Frequently Asked Questions

The Q&A is divided into sections based on the topic. If you have further questions, please contact the studio.

Q: “Do we get all the images that you took?”

A: No. I’ll shoot a series of images during a specific moment of your wedding. I may shoot 8 frames of you walking up the isle but if your expression isn’t quite flattering or your eyes are closed, those images are set aside.  I’ll take multiples of your family but keep only the best ones. I select only the finest images with the best expression for your image DVD.

Q: How many images to we get on DVD?

A: You’ll get 400-600 edited images on DVD from your wedding day.

Q: “Does your studio provide videography services?”

A: Yes, I do offer a Photofusions Presentation which is a slide show with short video clips. You can view a sample here.  If you are looking for a  traditional video I  can recommend top videographers that offer a variety of packages and pricing.  These are professionals that I work with on a regular basis.

Q: “Have you shot at my venue before?”

A: I have shot at hundreds of venues so there is a good chance that I have. If I have not however I will be glad to perform a thorough walkthrough with you prior to your wedding day.

Q: “Do you do destination weddings?  What additional fees are associated with destination weddings?”

A: While I am based out of New Jersey, I serve clients though out the New York Metro Area and all around the country. All destination weddings are priced  based on wedding date and location.  I would be glad to quote a price, please contact the studio.

Q: “Who will be shooting my wedding?”

A: I  (Steve Belner) will be personally photographing your wedding.

Q: “Do you do headshots, individual portraits, or family portraits?”

A: Yes.

Q: “Do you shoot Bar/Bat Mitzvahs?”

A: Yes.  Please contact me for samples or for a portfolio viewing.

Q: What happens if your sick or cannot photograph my wedding?

A: I have been photographing weddings for over 20 years and have never missed a wedding.   My reputation is very important to me and It’s going to take a lot for me to not show at your wedding.  That being said, In the event that I cannot make your wedding, I will send a qualified  photographer or you have the option to exit the agreement and pick a totally different photography studio and I’ll refund any money collected.

Q: What  is the difference between web quality and high resolution files?

A: Web quality files are perfect for emailing, placing on a blog or Facebook.  They are not intended for printing.  High resolution files are for making enlargements.

Q: “What is your photography style?”

A: My  wedding photography style is  a combination of photojournalism, fine-art and traditional wedding photography. To see examples and a detailed explanation, please visit PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE.

Q: “Can I see an album from one entire wedding?”

A: Absolutely  I pride myself on the consistency of my work. I understand all photographers put up their best shots from each wedding on their websites so it’s hard to determine how well he or she will perform on the wedding day. That is why I encourage all of my potential clients to view entire finished wedding albums.

Q: “My venue is really dark. How do you handle these situations and can I see samples?”

A: I have photographed weddings in extremely dark chapels, church’s and reception halls.  If the situation arises,  I will set up additional flash lighting to ensure I get bright crisp pictures. Some church’s  do not allow flash photography, and for that reason, I use camera’s and lenses with outstanding low-light performance.

Q: “How do I get my wedding published on other wedding blogs or magazines?”

A: Click Here for a list of our favorite wedding blogs and their instructions for submission.

Q: “Do you touch up all the images on our image DVD?”

A: Yes I do. Every image I deliver is post produced with my unique style of basic post production. This involves color correction, exposure adjustments,  black and white processing, clarity adjustments, tone-mapping, HDR processing, stylized enhancements and other corrections.

Q: Is all retouching included in your packages?

A: No. Advanced post production is not included, examples would be, removing entire objects from the scene, changing the size and shape of body parts or other objects in the scene, adding objects to a scene, there is a hourly charge for the custom post production, as the time required ranges depending on the complexity of the project. Please contact me for a quote for custom post production.

A: I shoot in  Raw mode, this allows for post production without any quality lose.

Q: “What album companies do you offer?”

A: There are many many album companies.  I have extensively researched the market and have chosen my favorites.  My criteria was quality first, uniqueness, turnaround time, options and price.  (Graphi-Studio, Leather Craftsmen, La-Vie, Accucolor, H&H).  If you prefer another album maker, I would be glad to accommodate your request.

Q: “How many pages and images do we get in our wedding album?”

A: I offer different options from 40-125 images and from 20-50 pages.

A: The basic albums have a set amount of pages but the upgraded albums can accommodate as many images and pages as you would like.

Q: How does the album ordering process work?

A: You will be able to submit your album order online.  Once I get the images that you have selected, I will produce an album layout.  You can give as much input as you would like, the more the better.  My goal is to make a layout that fits your personal style.  When the  draft is completed it will be posted online where you can view it and make comments.  The adjustments to the layout will be made and you will get a chance to view the revised layout.  When everything is just perfect the album will me produced.

A: You have the right to reprint images whenever you want, wherever you want. However you may not sell your images for a profit or publish your images without the written consent of Photovisions.

Q: “Do you provide the unedited RAW files ?”

A: I do not provide RAW (unprocessed) files. I believe in delivering a finished product. In fact, I’m often shooting with the end (post-produced) product in mind. However, if you absolutely want your RAW images, I will provide them to you along with the post-produced JPG’s for an additional fee of $1,000.

Q: “Do you backup our images? How can we ensure that our images won’t be lost?”

A: I have never lost an image from a wedding due to the following backup workflow:

During the shoot, I back up on an External Hard Drive so by the end of the wedding I have the images on a CF card and a hard drive. Once I get back to the studio usually that night I upload the images from the External Hard Drive to my computer’s hard drive.  Then I backup that hard drive to another hard drive.  After the files have been processed I’ll make a copy on both hard drives and burn a DVD.  The files are then uploaded to an off site location, just in case. It’s not fun but it works.

Q: “Do you have liability insurance?”

A:Yes. Many venues require the photographer to have Liability Insurance.

Q: “We’re really busy and won’t be able to meet. Are there any other options?”

A: Yes, although I think it’s important to meet in person I realize it’s not always possible.  In those rare instances we can talk on the phone or Skype.
